On September 18, the 5th Rail Transit Energy and Power System Technology Development Conference opened in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. Co-hosted by the Electrification Committee of the Chinese Railway Society, Southwest Jiaotong University, the National Rail Transit Electrification and Automation Engineering Technology Research Center, and the Rail Transit Professional Committee of the China Technology Market Association, the conference focuses on technological innovation and industrial upgrading of energy and power systems. It features one main forum and six special thematic forums, with the 4th IEEE PELS SSPEL Asia Academic Report Competition held concurrently.

Mr. Gao Shibin, Conference Chairman and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, presided over the opening ceremony; Mr. Wang Litian, Chief Expert and Deputy Chief Engineer of China Railway Liuyuan Group Co., Ltd., and Mr. Ma Guangtong, Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering of Southwest Jiaotong University, successively presided over the keynote forum; Mr. He Zhengyou, Vice President of Southwest Jiaotong University, presided over the roundtable meeting.
In the keynote report session of the conference, five experts delivered presentations successively.
Mr. Li Zhifeng, Deputy Secretary-General of the Zhan Tianyou Science and Technology Development Foundation, gave a report titled Striving Forward for 50 Years, Empowering the Future with Science and Technology — Modernization Transformation of Railway Power Supply and Prospects for Construction in the New Era, reviewing the modernization transformation process of railway power supply and looking forward to the construction direction in the new era. Mr. Luo Jian, Deputy General Manager of China Railway Design Group Co., Ltd., delivered a report titled Innovation and Application of China Standard Unified Catenary, introducing the China-standard catenary technical equipment and its applications on domestic and overseas lines. Mr. Yuan Xibo, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Xiamen University of Technology, as well as Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering of China University of Mining and Technology, gave a report titled High-Power Motor Drive System Based on Silicon Carbide Devices: Opportunities and Challenges, analyzing the engineering application prospects of silicon carbide devices in high-power motor drive systems. Mr. Jing Deyan, Chairman of the Standardization (Electrification) Professional Technical Committee of the Chinese Railway Society, delivered a report titled Application of UAVs in Rail Transit Under the Background of Low-Altitude Economy, discussing the new path for the integrated development of low-altitude economy and rail transit. Mr. Chen Weirong, Dean of the Institute of Hydrogen Energy and Energy Storage Technology of Southwest Jiaotong University, gave a report titled Research Status, Opportunities and Challenges of Hydrogen Energy Rail Transit, systematically sorting out the development status and prospects of hydrogen energy rail transit.
In the roundtable session of the conference, seven experts shared their insights and carried out in-depth exchanges and discussions around the theme of "Green and Intelligent Railways".
