On May 29, 2026 Graduation and Degree Conferral Ceremony was grandly held on the Xipu Campus of Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU).
The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests and school leadership, including Prof. Gao Shibin, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chief Professor of SWJTU, Prof. Ma Guangtong, Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering, Mr. Wang Bin, Party Secretary, Mr. Li Bo, Alumni Representative (Class of 2006) and Director of the Electrification Institute of the Electrification and Telecommunication Design Institute under China Railway Design Corporation, Mr. Xing Xiaopeng, Deputy Party Secretary, Mr. Yan Pulong, Deputy Party Secretary, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, and Vice Dean, Prof. Liu Zhigang,Vice Deans and Prof. Han Ying, Vice Deans.
The event officially commenced with all faculty and students standing together to sing the national anthem.
Academician Gao Shibin extended his warmest congratulations and affectionate remarks to the graduates. Dean Ma Guangtong delivered a speech titled "Inheriting the Glory of 130 Years, Rushing to the Mountains and Seas of the Era." Facing the calls and challenges of the new era, Ma presented three earnest expectations for the graduates.
Mr. Ma Yang, a graduate representative from Electrical Class 2022-06, summarized his five years at SWJTU with the phrase "finding direction through passion, keeping the original aspiration with faith, and carrying the mission through inheritance." He called upon all graduates to integrate their youthful ideals into the national rail transit development strategy, taking root and striving hard wherever the motherland needs them most.
Alumnus Li Bo reflected on his career dedicated to the railway industry. Speaking in the dual capacity of "an older senior and a new classmate," he offered three pieces of advice: Establish an attitude of lifelong learning; have the courage to face challenges and setbacks directly; and always believe that your alma mater is your strongest backing. He encouraged his juniors to find their life coordinates and translate what they have learned into a solid guarantee for thousands of miles of railway lines.
During the ceremony, an appointment ritual was held for the Class of 2026 Alumni Council.
At the degree conferral segment, Vice Dean Liu Zhigang read the list of degree recipients for the Class of 2026.
