Premier Li Qiang had a discussion and exchange with representatives of foreign experts who won the 2025 Chinese Government Friendship Award and worked in China at the Great Hall of the People on the afternoon of February 13. Vice Premier Ding Xue-xiang, State Councilors Wu Zheng-long and Chen Yi-qin attended. Prof. Frede Blaabjerg, Honorary Professor of the School of Electrical Engineering of Southwest Jiaotong University, Chairman of the Danish National Think Tank, and Professor of Aalborg University, was invited to be present.
Premier Li extended New Year greetings to foreign experts, thanked them for their long-term concern and support for China's modernization, and listened carefully to the opinions and suggestions of experts on China's development and government work. He stressed that foreign experts working in China are sincere friends of the Chinese people, and the Chinese government will strive to create a better environment for everyone's work and life, continue to protect peace and tranquility, strengthen various innovative policy support, optimize visas, social security, medical treatment, children's education and other services, so that talents from all over the world can work in China with more peace of mind, live more comfortably, and develop more smoothly.
Prof. Fred currently works at Aalborg University in Denmark, Chairman of the Danish Research and Innovation Policy Committee (Danish National Think Tank), and a fellow of the IEEE Power Electronics Society. He has won many top international awards, published 52 "ESI Highly Cited Articles", and is a global scientific and technological leader and top scientist in the field of electrical engineering.
Since his first visit to China in 1992, Professor Fred has traveled to more than 10 provinces (municipalities directly under the Central Government) in China for over 30 years, and has established cooperative relations with more than 30 universities and enterprises in China, including 15 years of cooperation with the School of Electrical Engineering. He has carefully guided over 20 teachers and students of the college to jointly publish above 80 papers, cultivated a group of young and middle-aged talents, and served as the overseas chief academic master of the 111 Discipline Intelligence Introduction Base of Rail Transit Electrification & Automation of the college for a long time. It has significantly enhanced the international influence and competitiveness of the electrical engineering discipline of the college, promoted the application of related technologies in the railway field, and made outstanding contributions to the academic development, scientific and technological progress, talent introduction and platform construction in related fields in China.
