The 10th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference (IPEMC 2024-ECCE Asia) was successfully held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province from May 17 to 20, 2024. The conference was hosted by the China Electrotechnical Society (CES), co-sponsored by the IEEE Power Electronics Society (IEEE PELS), hosted by Southwest Jiaotong University, and co-organized by the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan Industrial Application Society (IEEJ IAS) and the Korea Power Electronics Society (KIPE).
On May 18, the opening ceremony of the conference was held with Prof. Frede Blaabjerg presiding over the opening ceremony. In his speech at the opening ceremony, Prof. Xu Dianguo, Vice President of CES, said that IPEMC is an academic platform to showcase cutting-edge technologies, and CES will take this opportunity to contribute more to the growth of young talents, the popularization of science and technology, and the development and prosperity of technology. Prof. Brad Lehman, President of IEEE PELS, hopes that all academic colleagues will use power electronics technology to promote the development of new energy and social progress, and IEEE PELS will continue to promote international exchanges and cooperation and support the cultivation of young talents. Prof. Hitoshi Hayashiya, President of IEEJ IAS, said that the tremendous development of China's rail transit field is impressive, and he hopes that this conference can help make more scientific research progress in the field of power electronics and motion control. Prof. Se Kyo Chung, Chairman of KIPE, emphasized that in recent years, countries around the world have been pursuing low-carbon goals and accelerating green development through the popularization of electrification, and hoped that this conference can promote the sharing of new technologies and promote the comprehensive development of clean energy and power electronic systems around the world. Yu Minming, Secretary of the Party Committee of Southwest Jiaotong University, said that Southwest Jiaotong University is willing to work with colleagues to strengthen communication and deepen innovation and cooperation, and make greater contributions to promoting the integration of industry and education, science and education, and better promoting the development and progress of power electronics and motion control. Subsequently, Prof. He Xiaoqiong, chairman of the conference, made a report on the preparation of the 10th International Conference on Power Electronics and Motion Control.
After the opening ceremony, 10 keynote speeches were delivered, focusing on energy conversion, device design, system control, industry development and other issues in the field of power electronics and motion control.
On the morning of May 19, the first youth salon of the China Power Supply Society was held. Prof. He Xiaoqiong of Southwest Jiaotong University delivered a speech, and Prof. Song Wensheng, director of the Youth Working Committee of the China Power Supply Society, reported on the 2024 work plan. On the afternoon of May 19, Liuchen Chang, Academician of the Canada Academy of Engineering, chaired a special meeting on IEEEstandards and development planning, which covered the development process of relevant standard documents, focused on the key technical details and verification methods of major projects, and provided solutions for the reliability of power supply to respond to the evolving market demand. In the afternoon, the ECCE-Asia Women Engineers Conference was held, with a total of 3 experts giving presentations, and a round-table discussion was held focusing on 8 themes, including "Enabling PELS to Help Careers", "Expanding the Impact of Scientific Research", and "Cultivating an Inclusive Culture", etc.
It was reported that a total of 1249 papers were submitted to the conference, and 902 papers were finally accepted.
The International Conference on Power Electronics and Motion Control (IPEMC) aims to provide a friendly and interactive platform for experts, scholars, technicians and young students from power electronics academic and industrial circles around the world to discuss and share the latest international research results and cutting-edge technology development trends in the field of power electronics and motion control. More than 1,300 people from Asia, North America, Europe, Africa and Oceania gathered together at the IPEMC conference.
