On 30 August, the delegation from MTR Group visited the School of Electrical Engineering. Dr Lee Ka-yun, Deputy Director of MTR Corporation, Mr. Chan Hing-keung, Chief Manager of MTR Train Engineering Services and Innovation, Professor Chen Weirong, Foreign Academician of the Russian Academy of Engineering, Director of the Institute of Hydrogen Energy and Energy Storage Technology of SWJTU, Mr. Luo Qianchao, Associate Professor of the School of Electrical Engineering, Professor Ho Hiu Kiong, Vice Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering, attended the meeting together.
Prof Chen Weirong expressed his warm welcome to the arrival of MTR Group. He said that there are more opportunities for cooperation between the College and MTRC Group in terms of scientific research and technology, talent cultivation, etc. He hoped that further communication and exchanges could be made to promote the integration of industry, academia and research, and to provide more talents and technical support for the development of the rail transit industry.
Afterwards, Prof. Hu Haitao introduced the faculty, talent cultivation and scientific research achievements of the college, focusing on scientific research achievements and applications such as power supply system monitoring system, key technology of electric locomotive traction drive, etc.
Deputy Director Li Jiarun expressed his gratitude to the College for the warm welcome and looked forward to the school-enterprise co-operation. He put forward three suggestions on the co-operation. Firstly, the MTR Group will provide testing and working sites for the College. Secondly, it is a new step in promoting the development of talents and upgrading of skills within the enterprise, which can provide its employees with more courses and training activities oriented to practical needs. Thirdly, we will realize the co-creativity between the industry, academia and research and industrialisation of the scientific researches.
Subsequently, the two sides carried out in-depth exchanges on the research direction and key technologies, hoping to achieve long-term cooperation.
