讲座题目: Grid-Forming Converters: Technical Capabilities and Control Stability

内容介绍:

The operation and control of electric power grids are undergoing profound transformations, primarily fuelled by the widespread use of power electronic converters within renewable energy generation, flexible dc/ac transmission systems, and the growing electrification of industry and transportation sectors. Unlike traditional electrical machines, power converters exhibit dynamic behaviours across a broad timescale, often interacting with one another, thereby aggravating grid stability risks. In this context, grid-forming converters emerge as indispensable elements in bolstering stability and resilience of power grids. This talk will provide a critical review of the latest grid-forming functional specifications, and then explore the advancements and challenges with control stability of grid-forming converters.

主讲人:Xiongfei Wang

Xiongfei Wang is currently a Full Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden, a Parttime Professor at Aalborg University, Aalborg, Denmark, and a Visiting Professor at Hitachi Energy Research Center, Vasteras, Sweden. His research interests include modeling and control of power electronic converters, stability and power quality of power-electronic-dominated power systems, and high-power converters.

From 2009 to 2022, Xiongfei Wang was with Aalborg University, where he received his PhD degree in Energy Technology in 2013, and became an assistant professor in 2014, an associate professor in 2016, and a professor and the founding leader of Electronic Power Grid (eGRID) Research Group in 2018.

He is an IEEE Fellow and the Executive Editor (Editor-in-Chief) for the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics Letters, as well as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics. He received 10 IEEE Prize Paper Awards, the 2016 AAU Talent for Future Research Leaders, the 2018 Richard M. Bass Outstanding Young Power Electronics Engineer Award, the 2019 IEEE PELS Sustainable Energy Systems Technical Achievement Award, and the 2022 Isao Takahashi Power Electronics Award.
