Prof.Kaushik Rajashekara Visited

       On July 15, 2019, Prof. Kaushik Rajashekara of University of Houston visited our school and held an academic lecture entitled "Fuel Cells for Transportation and Power Generation", which was presided over by Prof. Chen Wei-rong, dean of School of Electrical Engineering. Prof. Ma Lei, deputy dean of School of Electrical Engineering, Prof. Li Qi, associate professor Yang Shun-feng, and other 40 students attended the lecture.

      After a warm welcome, Prof. Kaushik Rajashekara launched a high-level academic lecture which tells the mechanism, advantages and disadvantages of different types of fuel cells; research status and recent progress of proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) in rail transit, automobile, ship, aircraft and other transportation modes; introduction to the principle and structure of fuel cell power generation system, control method , characteristics of power electronic converter and the future trend.


         During the questioning phase, there was a warm exchange and discussion with Professor Kaushik Rajashekara. Finally, Prof. Chen Weirong presented the souvenir to Prof. Kaushik Rajashekara. 

         After the lecture, Prof. Kaushik Rajashekara visited the laboratories and had in-depth communication with faculty. Finally, he spoke highly of the lab construction and expressed his desire to establish long-term cooperation with the college.


        Dr. Rajashekara, is a Distinguished Professor of engineering in University of Houston, Houston, TX, USA,  a Distinguished Alumnus of Indian Institute of Science and a fellow of SAE International. He was elected as a member of the National Academy of Engineering, in 2012, for contributions to electric power conversion systems in transportation. He was also elected as 2015 Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors and 2013 Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering. He was the recipient of a number of awards including IEEE Richard Harold Kaufmann Award, IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) Outstanding Achievement Award, IEEE IAS Gerald Kliman award, IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) Vehicle and Transportation Systems Achievement Award, SAE Charles M. Manly Memorial Medal.
